The University of Tennessee Health Science Center| Social Media Specialist-Communications and Marketing

Hiring Range: $22.77/ Hourly


JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Social Media Specialist leads strategy development, planning, content creation, implementation, and assessment for UTHSC’s official University-level social media accounts. This position serves as a leader and advisor to campus colleagues responsible for maintaining social media accounts for individual UTHSC departments, colleges, or organizations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1.      Provides administrative oversight of official UTHSC accounts: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

2.      Plans, develops, and manages the execution of social media communication and marketing campaigns with the support of the Digital Content Manager.

3.      Develops an annual strategy for social media with relevant metrics/key performance indicators.

4.      Works with Digital Content Manager on content development, sharing external content, engaging in dialogue with stakeholders, answering questions, and resolving concerns.  

5.      Ensures social media content appropriately reflects University voice/tone and adheres to established UTHSC graphic and branding standards.

6.      Maintains a digital content calendar to strategically promote University events, initiatives, and achievements.

7.      Creates, schedules, analyzes, and applies assessment and statistical data for marketing purposes.

8.      Monitors and responds to UTHSC stakeholders on social media, consulting with leadership as appropriate for response to sensitive topics.

9.      Leads bi-monthly meetings with Campus Communicators.

10.  Creates, coordinates, evaluates, edits, maintains, and publishes content on the UTHSC website and social media accounts.

11.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 
 
EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

 

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience managing an institutional or organizational social media account. (Experience managing social media in a higher educational setting is preferred.)         

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Advanced knowledge of various social media platforms with understanding of social media best practices.
Ability to evaluate analytics and summarize the effectiveness of content.
Understanding of social media best practices with the ability to plan and organize others in executing a plan.
Ability to create and report on content performance across all social media platforms.
Demonstrated judgement and ability to manage the University’s reputation and produce creative and on-brand media.
Excellent short burst writing and editing skills.
Ability to think quickly and willingness to be clever and creative.
Experience with end-to-end paid social media campaigns.
Ability to be proactive working with sources to obtain social content.
Skilled in customer service with a caring and compassionate approach.
Strong organizational skills to maximize workflow efficiency.
 

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may be occasionally required to work evenings and weekends. May require occasional overnight travel.

Memphis International Airport| Media and Public Relations Program Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for developing and executing media and public relations strategies and plans for brand building/innovation, promotions, internal communications and affairs initiatives through the use of various media outlets in collaboration with the marketing team.

Annual Salary: $78, 576.58 - $87,307.3

Position Description

1. Serves as a company liaison in media relations activities, including responding to media calls, researching media inquiries, generating story ideas, analyzing media coverage, participating in interviews, coaching staff, and sending media updates to staff. Collaborates with marketing and subject matter experts in a timely matter to assist with appropriate media responses. Builds relationships with key media contacts.

2. Develops written materials including press releases, copy for internal and external newsletters, and customer service and passenger responses to brand, inquiries and issues as required. Assists with writing video scripts and advertising messages.

3. Assists in the development and implementation of brand PR programs to support initiatives, innovations, and other promotions. 

4. Collaborates with employee groups and cross-functional teams as needed to help provide creative solutions to communication problems.

5. Coordinates community involvement activities with organizations for group conventions and community events, including the charity golf tournament, tour requests and presentations, community partnerships and outreach efforts and workshops.

6. Manages the Airport Authority’s Volunteer Ambassador program, including the recruitment, retention, and training of all volunteers.

Requirements

EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree / equivalent in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

EXPERIENCE - Five (5) years of experience in working in a media relations or public relations role.  Management experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES - Knowledge of all current social media trends and outlets. Proficient knowledge of all Microsoft applications, web design software and analytics, graphic design software, and other public relation tools.

Strong presentation, collaboration, and communications skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, planning and organization, and human relations skills to include ability to build effective and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in a team or independently meeting established deadlines. Ability to be an influential communications consultant within the organization.
